Centre and State coordinating to develop Nagaland, assures Union Minister Yadav

Union Minister of State for Education Annpurna Devi Yadav today said that the Centre and State governments are working in coordination for overall development of Nagaland, while observing that the BJP-NDPP alliance in the state is working in tandem to fulfill the aspirations of the people through central sponsored schemes and special packages provided for Nagaland and other NE states. 

Addressing a section of media persons in Kohima today after visiting Tseminyu district, the Minister, who is on her maiden visit to Nagaland lauded the success of various developmental activities taking place in the state and expressed satisfaction over how they are being implemented. 

She said that under the Narendra Modi Government, Northeastern states, which have been neglected by previous governments is now becoming forerunners in many areas especially education, sports, economy and other areas with the attention received from the centre. 

The Minister said, Prime Minister Modi has made over 50 visits to the Northeastern states which shows his concern for the people. Yadav also said that the region has become more peaceful. “Not only the general population is being benefitted through the government of the day but even women through empowerment are coming to the forefront and working hard.” 

The Minister added that connectivity has improved for the states with national highways linking to international destinations and railway lines which are swiftly coming up.  

Today, she said youth and women are active in the society because of the empowerment 

Adding that the government of the day is prioritising education, she highlighted flagship schemes such as Samagra Shiksha and PM POSHAN are providing cooked food to school children and PM USHA is improving higher education in Nagaland.

The Minister mentioned significant features of the National Education Policy 2020 including introduction of vocational education from class 6 onwards, medium of instruction in Indian languages or mother tongue, multiple entry and multiple exit, academic bank of credit among others. 

Replying to concerns raised on the New Education Policy, Yadav informed that issues and grievances will be addressed at the state level to suit the need of the people and the students.
