Taking the platform of Resurrection Sunday Sunrise Service in Kohima, the believers prayed for wellness of Kohima citizens, administration and all the departments besides seeking forgiveness as well as giving thanks to God for His protection during COVID 19 pandemic.

Held at Kohima War Cemetery under the aegis of Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship (KBPF), the people from different walks of life joined the celebration of the ‘victorious resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”

Both young and old gathered from early morning of 5 AM and greeted each other through handshake to reason together and worship in unison.

During intercessory prayer led by Peraciezie Baptist Church pastor Dr Kevichalie Metha, theys also offered prayer for healing of the sick persons and sought God blessings and command for peaceful atmosphere in the society.

Kohima Ao Baptist Church pastor Rev Sentisashi Aier shared the message on the joy of resurrection.

‘Easter’ is to celebrate the day of Christ’s resurrection as ‘He has risen to give the eternal life,’ he noted, adding that His death and resurrection has bought a new life and faith to proclaim the Gospel of eternal salvation.

Rev Aier also exhorted the believers to repent and to pass on the joy of resurrection to family, friends and churches “because the resurrection of Christ has given a new hope of life to mankind.”

Sharing greetings, KBPF president Rev Vezopa Rhakho said, “On this resurrection Sunday, as we celebrate our Lord’s victory over sin and death and over all the works of Satan; as we celebrate the assurance of our Salvation, let us renew our commitment to Him, and thank Him for giving His all for us and for paying the highest price to redeem us.”

“Without His resurrection, there would be no Gospel, no Christianity. Resurrection is the heart of the Gospel. Our resurrected Lord and Saviour is alive today!,” he added.

“As we look back at the past couple of years, we all know how the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly shaken and changed the entire world. It has brought the world to its knees and we’ve realized how powerless and defenceless we really are despite all the scientific technological and medical advancements the world boasts of, and how weak and unprepared humanity is in the face of such forces of death and destruction. The definitive realization is that the world desperately needs Jesus Christ, our Saviour,” Rev Rhakho said.

“The Lord, in His wisdom, has made us, particularly believers, as we went through that phase of life, to think again, to review our lives, and the world we live in, and to learn to see things differently – reminding us of the value of life, the people around us, and His core purpose for each of our lives,” he noted.

“As we come together here today, we remember all those who have lost their loved ones to COVID or other causes these past couple of years. It is our prayer that they continue to experience God’s presence and healing in their lives. May this day serve as a reminder to us that, at the end of the tunnel, there is light; that it’s always darkest before the dawn, and that, because of Christ’s victory, we are now more than conquerors through Him who loves us!,” Rev Rhakho added.

Earlier, the service witnessed special praise songs from Ministers’ Hill Baptist Church and Tangkhul Baptist Church choir.

The service was led by Kohima Lotha Baptist Church pastor Mhonchumo S Lotha with scipture reading by Dziesekho Kense, president Kohima Baptist Youth Fellowship and Kivitoly Yeptho.

Tovili Assumi and James Swu, music director Sumi Baptist Church Kohima assisted as pianist and music leader respectively. Thingpio N Lam, president Kohima Town Baptist Women’s Union and Dr Ruokuovilie Sachii, pastor Khedi Baptist Church pronounced invocation and benediction prayer respectively.
