Accepts verdict of people of Nagaland with gratitude & humility: Supongmeren

Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): Nagaland’s Member of Parliament (Elect) for the lone Lok Sabha seat today stated that he accepts the verdict of the people of Nagaland with “utmost gratitude and humility” and will “ceaselessly endeavor to do justice to the overwhelming mandate given in favour of me and the Congress Party.” 

He further expressed gratitude to supporters and well-wishers, including the rank and file of the Congress family in Nagaland and beyond, the campaign committee, and the untold volunteers and individuals for their unwavering support and sacrifices throughout the campaign journey. 

“This momentous victory is as much theirs as it is mine,” Jamir stated. 

He further gave a “special shout-out to the Rising People’s Party for their exemplary camaraderie and rock-solid partnership.” 

The Indian National Congress MP-Elect also acknowledged civil society and church organizations, the media fraternity, and all poll-related government officials for their invaluable contributions in facilitating the delivery of another democratic mandate. 

He also appreciated his fellow competing candidates for their spirited campaigns and maintained that he looked “forward to their constructive and collaborative interventions” as he set out to discharge his responsibilities in the service of the people of Nagaland and the nation in general. 

Jamir also reaffirmed his commitment to represent the interests and aspirations of the people of Nagaland and other stakeholders to the best of all abilities, from within and outside the hallowed halls of Parliament. 

“First of all, I thank the Lord Almighty for His abundant Kindness, and for reminding us once again that all things are possible in Him,” he stated in a message.

Jamir won the contest to the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland  with a decisive margin of 50,984 votes over the nearest rival Dr Chumben Murry of the ruling NDPP-BJP-led PDA. The Independent candidate Hayithung Bill Lotha received 6232 votes.
