9-year-old Kevipu Meyase’s ‘The Invisible Boy’ released

9-year-old student of Kemnbay School, Tenyiphe-1, Chümoukedima, Kevipu Meyase today made his debut as a child author with the release of “The Invisible Boy”. The book was formally released by Sebastian Zumvü, Chairman of Sovima Village Council at Tenyiphe Village Council Hall on September 16. 

Addressing the launch, he said he was impressed by the fertility of the young author’s imagination and remarked that, “it is amazing that a young child could be so persistent and determined to see his literary work see the light of day.”

Stating that his storytelling is amazing, he also commented that, “the vocabulary that the young author possesses is remarkable.” He further urged the young friends of Kevipu to emulate him and to inculcate and imbibe the habit of reading. 
He also called upon the young generation to make use of technology at their disposal. 

Principal of Kemnbay School, A. Kaihrü Makhi said Kevipu Meyase has made all of them proud while expressing that, “If you have a burning desire in your life, that you really want to achieve something great in life, anything is possible. Nothing can stop you.” 

Appreciating the work of the young author, he stated that, “we hold a great responsibility towards this young boy.”  
“With our support, encouragement guidance, let us nurture this young boy to bloom to the fullest”, he added. 

In her publisher’s note, Vishü Rita shared the experience of publishing the work of Kevipu Meyase, whom she described as a bright, curious young boy. Stating that it is rare to come across children who write, and even more so, children who are capable of putting to words their wildest imaginations, crafting stories that even adults can learn from, she said that the young author incorporates in the book, values of family, love and friendship, reminding the reader that the good always triumph over evil.

At just nine years, she also remarked that Kevipu is already carving a path for himself as a writer and a storyteller. At a time when literature is considered either ‘boring’ or ‘unimportant’ by most people, she said that young emerging writers like Kevipu signals hope for the future of literature in the state. 

Underscoring that “it is really important to have people who support you as you embark on your young dreams”, she commended his parents for giving him the much needed support and guidance from such an early age.

“His writing would not have been transformed into a book if it weren’t for his parents who took it upon themselves to nurture and mold the dreams of this young boy”, she stated in this regard.  

She also exuded confidence that the book will not only be a source of entertainment but also a source of inspiration for many more children and young people to do something worthwhile with their lives. Mention may be made here that “The Invisible Boy” marks the 95th publication of PenThrill.

During the launch, Kevipu Meyase read from the book and also expressed his gratitude to his family, teachers and principal for their support. He said that he started writing the book in February this year. 

Highlights of the event included special number by Vimekuono Meyase, dedicatory prayer by Maj Zakievilhou Zinyü (Rtd) while Dr. Rokozeno, Guest Faculty, Department of Entomology, SAS, Nagaland University chaired the programme.
