Dimapur, April 5 (MExN): A total of 22 houses were razed in separate fire incidents in Mon district and Dimapur in the past week.
According to updates from the RO, (E) Fire and Emergency Services, a fire broke out at Totok Chingha village under Mon district on April 3 destroying 19 katcha houses along with property worth approximately Rs 50 lakhs.
The updates stated that a team from Mon Fire Station led by Duty Commander ASI Chingpai Konyak took almost six hours to bring the fire under control and managed to salvage property worth approximately Rs 20 lakhs. The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
In another incident in Tamong village of Mon district, a fire broke out on April 2 in which one katcha house along with household property worth approximately Rs 15 lakhs was destroyed. The updates informed that two fire tenders along with fire personnel led by Duty Commander SI Soyhunlo Kent from Mon Fire Station were pressed into action to fight the fire which was suspected to be caused by an electrical short circuit.
“Due to timely information and response, fire was controlled and prevented from spreading to the surrounding houses,” the updates stated, while adding that the response team was able to salvage property worth Rs 20 lakhs approximately.
Meanwhile in First Gate, Ward 2, Chümoukedima under Dimapur district, a team from Chümoukedima Fire Station led by Duty Commander ASI Haitilo Semy responded to a fire call on April 1. The fire which was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit destroyed two katcha houses and damaged property worth approximately Rs 4 lakhs.
No casualties were reported in all three incidents.
