18 held as Nagaland Police’s clampdown on drugs continues

Kohima, July 4 (MExN): A total of 18 persons were arrested during the June 16-30 fortnight as Nagaland Police continues its statewide operations to combat synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances, and IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) and their impact on youth.

In a social media update, Nagaland Police informed that the operations included intensive vehicle checks (MVCP), raids, and inspections of hotels and restaurants aimed at preventing such illegal activities.

According to police reports, 6 cases related to narcotics and psychotropic substances were registered during the fortnight, resulting in 9 arrests. A total of 950 grams of opium, 308.89 grams of brown sugar, and 94 Spasmo Proxyvon and other tablets were seized during this period.

There were also 8 cases involving IMFL, resulting in 8 arrests and the seizure of 708 alcohol-related items. Additionally, one person was arrested in possession of a pistol with a magazine and 32 live ammunitions.

Meanwhile, Nagaland Police has appealed to the public to report any sale or distribution of narcotics, drugs, or IMFL to the nearest police station or Narcotic Police Station. Contact numbers of various Nagaland Police Officers and Police Stations are available on the ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile app. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
