ALL 5 CASES IN DIMAPUR; RT-PCR RESULTS OF 3 DECEASED +VE

DIMAPUR, JUL 25 (NPN): Another person died of suspected COVID-19 after being tested positive twice through TrueNat but was yet to be confirmed through RT-PCR under BSL. The latest has taken the death toll due to suspected COVID-19 in Dimapur to five since July 21.

According to information from official sources, the deceased who was around 60 years died on Saturday morning reportedly due to health issues. It was reported that he was employed with M/s Zinyu Gas Agency in Dimapur. The deceased was unwell since July 22 and when his condition deteriorated on July 25, he was taken to three hospitals but was not admitted.

The deceased had reportedly tested twice through TrueNat and was positive for COVID-19. Swabs of the deceased were also sent for testing at BSL lab for confirmation, sources added. As precautionary measures, the gas agency was also sealed on Saturday.

Meanwhile, sources informed that the RT-PCR test conducted on three deceased- a 72-year old man from Bokajan who died at Nikos Hospital on July 21; a 32-year woman who died at a paid quarantine centre at MP Road, Dimapur on July 22 and a 78- year old man who died at Dimapur district COVID-19 hospital on July 24 were confirmed positive for COVID-19. All had earlier been tested positive for COVID through TrueNat and had multiple health issues, except the woman.

Another death was reported from CHC Medziphema, where the patient had tested negative on TrueNat but the RT-PCR result had shown positive. The patient died on July 21 but the RT-PCR result was received on July 24. According to senior medical officer of the CHC, the deceased was admitted on July 19 after falling sick.

However, when contacted, Health officials said it was yet to be ascertained whether the four who died were related to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Health department, in its daily briefing said that the state had so far recorded four deaths and investigation was on to establish links to Covid-19. It said, out of four deaths, three had chronic serious comorbidities and that two were residents of Assam.

Health minister S. Pangnyu Phom tweeted that “as on 25th July, the State have reported 4 deaths. However, investigation is on and subject to further verification to establish the link with COVID-19 as comorbid conditions were present.”

DC orders more sealing

Following the detection of COIVD-19 cases and in to order prevent further spread of the virus, deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Anoop Khinchi has ordered sealing of affected areas.

In separate orders issued on July 25, the DC directed sealing of Xray/Echo room and cabin 203 of Zion Hospital Dimapur; lift of Sukhalu building at Kalibari road and Netaji colony, house number 119 with immediate effect.
