DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 4 (MExN): The Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has temporarily suspended its proposed indefinite agitation on account of an emergency presidential meeting of its six federating units which is scheduled to be held in Tuensang.
A press release from the ENSF President, Sepili Sangtam and Assistant General Secretary, Khomo P informed that the meeting will include the Confederation of Chang Students’ Union (CCSU), Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU), Konyak Students’ Union (KSU), Phom Students’ Conference (PSC), United Sangtam Students’ Conference, and Yimchunger Akheru Arih-Ako (YAA).
All federating units have been directed to reach Tuensang by December 5. All the Advisors of ENSF, former senior leaders have also been requested to the ENSF HQ in Tuensang.
The federation however stated that the proposed indefinite agitation will resume anytime as and when the federation directs. It expressed dismay that despite the federation’s agitation entering its 5th day today, the government has given “a cold shoulder to the demands.” This, it stated, shows how the government has “succeeded time and again in depriving the Eastern Naga people of their rights.”
It further informed that the seized vehicles would be released only after the ENSF’s demands are met.
Meanwhile, the protest on December 4 passed off peacefully. District administration and sub division offices in the eastern areas were locked down and restriction was put on the movement of government vehicles.
