Khango, Isak sign ‘deed of reconciliation’

DIMAPUR, SEP 20 (NPN): NSCN/GPRN (K) chairman/president Khango Konyak revoked the expulsion of general secretary/ato kilonser Isak Sumi and reinstated him in the same position. Isak Sumi will also continue to represent NSCN/GPRN (K) as co-convener of Working Committee (WC), Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs).

As reported in Nagaland Post, the two leaders– Khango and Isak, following the intervention of WC NNPGs and civil society leaders, reconciled and also agreed to sign an agreement to keep aside their differences for the sake of the impending solution to decades long Naga political issue.

A statement issued by the office of the Working Committee of the NNPGs, informed that a “deed of reconciliation” was signed in this regard in the presence of Naga national leaders and civil society leaders, including Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) peace mediation team, Nagaland Gaon Burahs’ Federation (NGBF), WC, NNPGs members and others.

Acknowledging that the menace of defection within NNPGs had caused much misunderstanding and pain to all, the NSCN/GPRN (K) leaders also agreed to sincerely abide and conform to all existing anti-defection laws in force among the Working Committee, NNPGs.

Henceforth, the leaders committed themselves to work with responsibility, mutual co-ordination and transparency in the execution of domestic affairs in the larger interest of Nagas. It was also agreed that the NSCN/GPRN (K) general secretary would consult the chairman on all important issues.

The deed of reconciliation noted that political negotiation between Government of India and WC, NNPGs is about to reach its logical conclusion, and that the progress so attained was neither out of the blue nor easy but out of much dedication and sacrifices of all stakeholders.

Fearing that internal bickering resulting in split within any group at this critical juncture would amount to undermining the efforts of the negotiators and facilitators alike, it acknowledged that any such action, particularly of national workers, that impedes the process of negotiation would be considered a betrayal to the aspirations of Nagas.

Besides Khango Konyak and Isak Sumi, the deed of reconciliation was signed by WC, NNPGs convener N Kitovi Zhimomi, NTC Peace Mediation Committee convener Yesonu Veyie, NGBF general secretary Shikuto Zalipu, NTC president Toniho Yeptho, CNTC adviser Hokiye Yeptho and WC, NNPGs co-conveners Wangtin Naga, Zhopra Vero, Z Hozheto Chophy, Toshi Walling and Kiumukam.
