DIMAPUR, AUG 23 (NPN): With 51 new COVID-19 cases being reported from across the state, the tally on Sunday rose to 3,686 cases– 1376 active, 2294 recovered, 9 deaths and 7 migrated.
According to Health minister, S. Pangnyu Phom said that 31 cases were detected in Kohima, 10 in Dimapur, 5 in Mon, 2 each in Tuensang and Zunheboto and 1 in Mokokchung.
As per the severity of symptoms, 1,355 active cases were asymptomatic, 20 mild and 1 moderate case.
Further, out of the 3,686 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people include 1,607 cases from the Armed Forces, 1,207 returnees, 246 frontline workers and 626 traced contacts.
India records 69,000 COVID cases in 24 hrs
IANS adds: India recorded single-day jump of 69,239 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the tally to 30,44,940 cases, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday morning.
According to the ministry there are 7,07,668 active cases, 22,80,567 cured or discharged or migrated patients, and 56,706 deaths.
India took over 200 days to hit the 30-lakh mark since the first coronavirus case was reported in the country on January 30.
According to the data, the fatality rate has dropped down to 1.86% while the rate of recovery has climbed to 74.90%.
Maharashtra remained the worst-hit state with 6,71,942 corona cases and 21,995 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu with 3,73,410 cases and 6,420 deaths.
Globally, India remains the third worst-hit nation after the US and Brazil with 56,67,179 and 35,82,362 coronavirus cases respectively. As many as 2,31,34,358 persons have so far been affected across the world, of which 8,04,416 succumbed to the virus.
