On 9th August, 2020, the Lotha Welfare Forum Delhi (LWFD) organized a virtual felicitation programme for Mr. Richard Yanthan for bringing high achievement in the UPSC examination result 2020. “His success was truly a huge pride to the Naga community and has gained instant fame across the state for breaking the 13 year long awaited record for the state of Nagaland and three decades for the Lotha Nagas to be hopeful for another IAS officer”, stated a press note issued by Dr. Benrithung Murry, Chairman and Mhonthung Ngullie, Secretary of the Lotha Welfare Forum Delhi.
Considering the pandemic situation across the globe, the Lotha Welfare Forum Delhi (LWFD) organized the programme virtually. It was overwhelmingly attended by Lothas residing in Delhi and NCR besides participants from different parts of India and across the globe.
The felicitation started with a prayer being offered by Pastor Chenithung Ezung. Dr. Benrithung Murry, Chairman of LWFD gave the welcome address underlining the purpose of the event. A prayer of blessing upon Richard Yanthan was pronounced by Mr. Chumbemo Khuvung, Chairman of the Delhi Lotha Christian Fellowship. Mr. Nzanthung Odyuo in person presented tokens of appreciation to Mr. Richard Yanthan on behalf of the virtually gathered participants.
Dr. Zuchamo Yanthan, while congratulating him, stated that Richard Yanthan is now a role model to thousands of civil service aspirants in the state which he has to live up to. He said, the state of Nagaland, which is presently going through challenging times urgently needs young men and women having high integrity, knowledge and selfless spirit with accountability and fear of God. “Nurturing and giving back to our society remain one’s moral responsibility because it has nurtured and shaped our lives”.
Mr. Mhonthung Ngullie, Regional Commissioner in Ministry of Labour & Employment exhorted by giving some reflections on Richard’s father Late James Chenithung Yanthan, who was an officer in the same Ministry and is still fondly remembered by his colleagues as an efficient and good human being. Referring to the success story of Daniel in the Bible, who eventually was elevated to a high position with God’s wisdom abounding in him Mr. Ngullie encouraged Richard Yanthan to break away from status-quo and seek God’s wisdom so that his life would be impactful to the Naga society.
Ms. Lothungbeni P Lotha spoke on behalf of the Lotha Students’ Union Delhi and congratulated Mr. Richard Yanthan for bringing so much happiness and pride to the state and Lothas in particular and also for setting a good example through his success which was truly a manifestation of his hard work, commitment and consistency.

In response, Mr. Richard Yanthan thanked the Lotha Naga community of Delhi for sharing the joy of his success by organizing a felicitation programme for him. He shared his experiences of his UPSC preparation and the blessings of his hard work and commitment. He further encouraged the youngsters to keep working hard and have faith in God for strength and blessings.
A beautiful song ‘Glorious’ was also sung by Ms. Thungrhoni Kithan giving an essence to the joy of the event. Ms. Emilo Ngullie, the host of the event proposed the vote of thanks and Ms. Evangeline Odyuo Koireng closed the function with a prayer.
Congratulatory messages poured in from many dignitaries, some of which were read out in the function including messages from Mr. Mhathung Yanthan, Hon’ble adviser of Horticulture and Border Affairs, Mr. Mhathung Kithan (IAS), Mr. Mhabemo Yanthan (IAS), President of Lotha Officers’ Association and Father Paul Thungbemo Yanthan from Rome, Italy.
