DIMAPUR, JUL 23 (NPN): Nagaland on Thursday recorded the highest single-day spike of 90 COVID-19 cases taking the total number of people infected with the contagion to 1174 cases– 644 active and 530 recovered. Kohima district accounted the maximum number of fresh cases on Thursday at 61, while Dimapur recorded 26 cases, 2 in Peren and 1 in Phek district.
According to state Health & Family Welfare department, out of 90 cases, 43 were from the armed forces, 42 from among the returnees at quarantine centres out of which 37 were from a Power company, 1 frontline worker and 4 traced contacts.
Active surveillance and contact tracing was in progress to prevent further spreading of the infection, principal secretary Home Abhijit Sinha said in his daily briefing. As per the severity of symptoms, 640 active cases were asymptomatic, 2 mild, 1 with moderate symptoms and 1 admitted to ICU on ventilator.
Till July 23, a total of 20,126 samples had been sent for testing through RT-PCR. Results of 18,968 samples were received out of which 11,793 were tested at the BSL-3 lab (NHAK) and 654 samples tested positive.
In addition, a total of 13,497 samples were also sent for testing on Truenat. 12,766 samples tested negative and 428 positive, which have again been sent for confirmation by RT-PCR.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,821 persons were presently under Facility Quarantine.
