9 COVID-19 cases were reported from the Nagaland House at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Road in New Delhi on July 14.

Earlier during the day, 5 persons in Nagaland House, New Delhi were reported to have been tested positive for COVID-19.

It was informed that the first case was detected last week when an employee who had returned from Nagaland on June 10 had started showing symptoms.  While she was in isolation the entire time, her condition did not improve. She was taken to the hospital for the COVID-19 test which came back positive last week.

After the result was confirmed, as per the contact tracing, samples from 44 persons in the campus were tested on Sunday.  Out of them, 3 persons were tested positive for COVID-19.

While there were reports of the Nagaland returnee being in the ICU, the Deputy Resident Commissioner (DRC) Nagaland House Kethosituo Sekhose said that it was part of the protocol since she had shown symptoms.

According to the doctors, she has been shifted from the ICU to the ward and her condition is stable, the DRC added.

Meanwhile, 4 more in Nagaland House New Delhi tested positive on Tuesday evening, according to an official source. They were among the 60 residents who underwent tests earlier during the day. With the latest addition, there were 9 COVID-19 positive cases in the campus as of July 14.

5 Nagaland legislators undergo tests
Five legislators from Nagaland – four ministers and an advisor, have undergone tests for COVID-19 on July 14 and are awaiting results after they reportedly came into contact with a driver, who was confirmed positive for the virus on July 13.

The driver who tested positive was reportedly assigned to one of the legislators who are currently in Delhi.

Four among the five legislators took the test exercising abundant caution as they were not in direct contact, while one of them was in direct contact with the infected person, an official in Nagaland told The Morung Express on the condition of anonymity.

When contacted, officials at Nagaland House confirmed the news and informed that the results are expected on July 15, but refrained from providing further details.

Nagaland House not sealed
Meanwhile, Nagaland House Delhi DRC informed The Morung Express that reports of the campus being sealed is not correct.

“Sealing of the campus is up to the Delhi Government. On our part, we have ensured that they are isolated, and all precautions are being followed,” he said.

The DRC also added that everyone in the campus will be tested. 44 have already been tested and 60 more were tested on Tuesday. There are more than 100 residents inside the Nagaland House campus including families and individuals, the DRC said.

All those who tested positive have been isolated and maximum precaution is being followed for the rest of the residents, he informed.

 

Nagaland COVID-19 tally rises to 896

51 new cases were reported in Nagaland on Tuesday, taking the state’s tally to 896.

According to State Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom’s updates, 24 cases were reported in Kohima and 20 were from Peren. 3 cases were reported in Dimapur, 2 cases in Longleng while Mokokchung and Zunheboto registered 1 case each on July 14.

Meanwhile, total recovery was reported to be 346 on Tuesday according to the Nagaland COVID-19 bulletin. The number of active cases in the state was 550, as of 3:00 pm on July 14 according to the data released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Out of the 550 active cases, 535 are asymptomatic while 15 cases in Dimapur have been categorized as showing mild symptoms.
