KOHIMA, OCTOBER 28 (MExN): The screening of “Mann Ki Baat,” the monthly radio program hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took place at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on October 27.
During the event, Nagaland Governor La Ganesan recognized the Shalom Rehabilitation Centre, Chümoukedima, for its outstanding service to the community in Nagaland and the broader North East region.
Established in 1993 by the Diocese of Kohima in response to the growing substance abuse issues in the area, Shalom Rehabilitation Centre operates under the motto “Together We Can.” The center has transformed numerous lives by partnering with the Medical Mission Sisters (MMS) and the Medical Sisters of St. Joseph (MSJ) to support individuals affected by chemical dependency. Shalom offers a structured, four-month residential program that combines both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments, enabling successful recovery and reintegration into society.
Rev Fr Dr Joe Mariadhas leads the dedicated team at Shalom, which provides personalized care and guidance in a safe and supportive environment. Their mission focuses on fostering transformation and hope through compassionate, non-judgmental care, helping individuals impacted by addiction work toward a brighter future.
In each “Mann Ki Baat” screening, Governor La Ganesan honors individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community. These recognitions not only highlight exemplary service but also encourage citizens to engage actively in social initiatives, showcasing impactful work aimed at improving the lives of people in Nagaland and beyond.
At the screening, Father Dr Joe Mariadhas addressed the audience on behalf of Shalom Rehabilitation Centre. Apongba Ozukum shared his personal journey through the center, while the Under Secretary, Kevingozo Visa, provided introductory remarks to the Governor.
