Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): The Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, visited the Global Open University Nagaland (TGOUN) at Sodzulhou-Kozabe Village in Chumoukedima district on July 6. He was accompanied by Sentiyanger Pongen, Additional Secretary of Higher and Technical Education, Nagaland, and Imsongmeren, Joint Secretary of Tourism, along with other officials.
Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, Director and Head of the WIBP Special Observer Group for Nagaland, and Dr. H.N. Dutta, Vice-Chancellor of TGOUN, welcomed the Minister. They presented him with a bouquet of flowers and briefed him on various programs, developments, and activities of the university.
During the visit, Imna Along engaged in discussions with the university officials. “It is crucial to focus on professional programs that are globally viable and attract students to study locally,” he emphasized. He also highlighted the need to recruit indigenous inhabitants of Nagaland in collaboration with the Department of Higher Education.
The visit included an overview of the university’s initiatives and an exchange of insights aimed at enhancing the educational landscape in Nagaland.
