TNAI Nagaland branch celebrates 50 years

The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) Nagaland Branch today celebrated its Golden Jubilee under the theme “Honouring the glorious past, celebrating the golden present and envisioning the promising future” at Capital Cultural Hall, Kohima.

Gracing the celebration, Commissioner & Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, V Kezo extended best wishes to TNAI Nagaland for attaining 50 glorious years. “Today, nursing is evolved to become the key pillar of health care system in the whole world,” he said.

He lauded the nurses from the region and Nagaland for exercising the high qualities of kindness and compassion and hoped that they will continue to do good work. He also wanted to see that nurses are engaged in research, bringing out new ideas and new protocol of treatment which will benefit the entire community.

Cheryl Susan Tada, National Vice President, TNAI, NE Region said that the core objective of TNAI is for the welfare of nurses in the country. She called upon the nurses not to forget the core essence of nursing, ie, care and compassion.

Asking the nurses to exercise the core value of nursing which are human dignity, integrity and social justice, she said, “We have to respect our patients.” We have to give the same service to everybody, she said adding, “There should be justice in our practice.”

Also stressing on the need to have a Directorate of Nursing in the region, she solicited support from the state government to see that Nagaland become the first state in the region to have Directorate of Nursing.

Dr Bernard Amer, president, Nagaland In-Service Doctors Association (NIDA) lauded the service of TNAI Nagaland Branch since its formation in 1974.

Reminiscing memories of nursing was shared by Shetoni Sema, retd Deputy Director Nursing. Prof A Purnungla Aier, Nursing Superintendent, CIHSR Dimapur exhorted on the jubilee theme.

A message from TNAI National president Prof (Dr) Roy K George was also read out on the occasion.

Snippets of jubilee souvenir was shared by souvenir committee convenor, R Ayangla.

S Tiakala Longkumer, President TNAI, Nagaland Branch delivered the welcome address while obituary prayer was led by Temsusenla Aier, Vice Principal, School of Nursing, IMDH, Mokokchung.

Felicitation of nurses was led by Tiamenla Jamir, Secretary, TNAI Nagaland branch. A special choreography was performed by the School of Nursing, NHAK while Jubilee Choir, Dimapur Unit presented a special song “Cry Out and Shout.”

The programme was compered by Prof Khumjanbeni Murry, Joint Secretary TNAI, Nagaland branch with Velulü Vasa, Staff Nurse, District Hospital Phek as pianist.

A special prayer for nurses was pronounced by Mhonchumo S Lotha, vice president, Kohima Baptist Pastors’ Fellowship.
TNAI Mokokchung unit performed a prelude while vote of thanks was proposed by Vesalu Rose, convenor TNAI Nagaland branch Golden Jubilee Planning Committee.

Later, Athel O Lotha, commissioner and secretary for art & culture, Govt of Nagaland graced the cultural extravaganza cum closing function.
