PHEK, MAY 20 (MExN): The Chakhesang Public Organisation (CPO) and Sümi Hoho after a coordination meeting at Chozuba village on May 18 resolved to strengthen the bond of brotherhood between the two communities while recognising the importance of ensuring long-term harmony, mutual respect and understanding.
A joint statement issued by CPO president, Vezuhu Keyho and Sümi Hoho president, I Nikheto Jimomi said leaders from both organisations gathered to discuss mutual interests, address common challenges and explore avenues for common cooperation.
It also came out with joint declaration which called for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood between the members of both communities and to promote mutual support and assistance in times of need.
The two communities resolved to forgive and forget their “past incoherent behaviour or actions” that has created misunderstanding between the two brethren including the September 5, 2023 incident at Chozuba Town, which it said, shall be treated as a closed chapter.
Consequent upon this, the Chozuba Range Public Organisation’s press statement of disassociation from Sümi- Chakhesang brotherhood shall be withdrawn with immediate effect, it added.
The joint declaration also committed to treating all members of both communities with dignity and respect, irrespective of their background, beliefs, or affiliations.
It agreed to maintain open and regular communication to address any issues or concerns that may arise. In case of any disputes, a joint committee consisting of equal representatives from both communities concerning the villages/areas shall be established to mediate and resolve the matter amicably.
It also agreed to advise their members to refrain from spreading misinformation and inflammatory comments on social media as it is detrimental to communal harmony.
Any amendments to this joint declaration must be made in writing and signed by authorized representatives of both parties, it said.
“This joint declaration serves as a testament to the commitment of Sümi and Chakhesang to promote and strengthen a harmonious and supportive relationship between the two communities for generations to come,” the joint statement further read.
