Unconditional Love: Mother’s Day celebrated across Nagaland

DIMAPUR, May 13 (MExN): Mother’s Day was celebrated across the state to honour and appreciate the selfless love and unwavering support of mothers. 

The Mao Baptist Church in Kohima hosted a heart-warming celebration in honor of Mother’s Day, welcoming the congregation to a special service dedicated to the mothers in their community. The event saw an impressive turnout of church members, all gathered to express their gratitude and admiration for the women who play such crucial roles in our lives.

The highlight of the day was a thought-provoking and inspiring message delivered by Reverend Dr Moon, focusing on the delicate balance between work and family life that mothers often navigate with grace and resilience. Dr Moon shared insights and wisdom gleaned from his own experiences and observations. 

The celebration also featured participation from various groups within the church. Fathers, youth, and members of the Sunday school all contributed to the festivities with heartfelt songs, prayers, and gestures of solidarity.

Mothers being presented with gifts hampers as the Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) community celebrates the Mother’s Day 2024 with a special fellowship at the college’s Bundrock Chapel-Auditorium on May 12. Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church


Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church observed Mother’s Day on May 12 under the banner of “Mother’s as a Nurturer of faith” to honour the mothers who play a vital role in the community and for showing immense love and making sacrifices. 

Youth Pastor Kungkam Newmai, in her exhortation, honoured the mothers for being a constant source of strength and inspiration in the family. Kungkam said a women faith is not based on what she see or feels but on what she knows to be true about God from the Bible. She further stated that when a woman prays, strongholds are broken; circumstance change, and healing take places and miracles begin. 

The programme was chaired by Deacon Wigiang Chawang. Rev N Silubo Pastor offered a special prayer for the mothers and Sunday school children honoured the mothers through an action song.


Assam Rifles 
 
The Assam Rifles observed World Mother’s Day celebrations at Pfütsero, Meluri and Avangkhu. At Pfütsero, the celebration was held at Chakhesang Mission Higher Secondary School along with Chakhesang Mother’s Association (CMA) and 20 mothers of the nearby villages. The event commenced with a heart warming speech by Coy Cdr on the significance of the day, followed by address from CMA president on women rights, women empowerment and role of mothers in our lives. 


Meanwhile, the Assam Rifles distributed 20 CGI sheets to the Pochury Mother’s Association in Meluri and sweets to mothers in Avangkhu village. The initiative was aimed at addressing housing needs in the community, a press release stated.  The CGI sheets provided will contribute significantly to improving housing conditions and enhancing the wellbeing of mothers and families in the region, it added.


NDPP Wokha region 



Commemorating Mother’s Day celebration, the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) Wokha region on May 11 observed advanced Mother’s Day programme at its office building attended by NDPP officials from Wokha district.

In a short service held at its office, NDPP women were handed gift by its NDPP Region president, John Ezung. Advisor to NDPP Wokha Region, K. Thungchibemo Murry shared a message of love and blessing of how God fearing women lead a family with grace. He also encouraged the women to continue shaping their family through God’s fear and love, setting an example for the community and the society. 

Meanwhile, he also called upon the fathers in attendance to respect and love their wife while stating that women play a vital role in the family, and upbringing of their children.

Short speeches were also delivered by Lily Kikon, president NDPP Women Organization Wokha and Grace Murry, general secretary, NDPP Central Women Organization where they appreciated the NDPP Wokha region for organizing the service in honouring the party women. The service was chaired by John Ezung, president, NDPP Wokha region while invocation prayer was said by Oren Lotha, vice president, NDPP Wokha.
