Kohima, April 3 (MExN): Heavy rain along with thunderstorm and gusty winds (speed 30-40 kmph) is expected to continue in the State during the coming days, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) stated in an advisory on Tuesday.
In a weather updates issued in coordination with the India Meteorological Department, Regional Office Guwahati, the NSDMA informed that the showers would be accompanied with other pre-Monsoon activities such as lightning, hailstorm, thunderstorm along with squally winds,
Such weather condition is expected to last till April 16, it noted.
Heavy rainfall along with strong winds and lightening is expected in isolated places in the districts of Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Mokokchung, Shamator, Tseminyu and Tuensang.
During the period, the NSDMA said that the maximum temperature will be around 31° Celsius while the minimum temperature will see a dip settling even below 11° over the hilly areas.
Accordingly, the Authority urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any disasters during this period.
It further requested all the District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties.
The NSDMA said that the weather condition may results in poor visibility, traffic congestion, partial damages to kutcha houses and huts, damage crops, among others.
Accordingly, it requested the general public to take appropriate shelter during thunderstorms and lightning activities, propping of the vegetable pandal, avoidance of working in agriculture field, grazing cattle, fishing and plying boats or general travel etc during these weather conditions.
