TUENSANG, MARCH 11 (MExN): The ‘Public Emergency’ declared by the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) in the six districts of eastern Nagaland will continue. As per an update from the ENPO Control Room, on March 10, total shutdown will be imposed in all the six districts from March 11 until further notice.
The ENPO declared the ‘Public Emergency’ on March 5, informing of a phase-wise agitation in protest against the delay of the Government of India in settling the offer of a proposed Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT). It followed up the declaration by a dawn to dusk total shutdown on March 8, and subsequently imposing a freeze on the functioning of all government establishments, both State and Central.
It however exempted the power department, media, medical emergencies, Fire and Emergency Services and weddings from the purview of the total shutdown. The ENPO affiliate tribal bodies were further directed to “coordinate with all concerned, respectively.”
