Kohima, March 11 (MExN): The Women Development Committee of Baptist College Kohima and Sechu campus celebrated International Women’s day under the theme, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress” on March 8 at Rivenburgs Chapel Hall, Kohima.
Apila Sangtam, Advocate, Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench was the resource person.
Motivating the students to be agents of change, Apila shared information pertaining to two important acts, that is, Protection of Women against Domestic Violence Act, 2005 and the Protection of children from sexual offences (POCSO) Act, 2012.
She further shared on the types of offences identified under the two Acts and gave out the basic procedures to file a case against perpetrator/s.
For assistance, one may reach through Women Helpline 181 and CHILDLINE 1098, she suggested. She ends her speech by saying that any country or society is known by the status of women.
The program was chaired by Suvilu Venuh. Chang invoked God’s blessing for the day while Veshetsulu Ruho shared the significance of the International Women’s Day.
Illi Awomi and Shepong presented a special number.
