In a significant stride towards enhancing healthcare accessibility and affordability, the District Hospital in Tuensang unveiled the Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy on November 1. The inauguration ceremony, graced by Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, Deputy Commissioner, Tuensang, marked a pivotal moment in the healthcare landscape of the district.
The event garnered attendance from key stakeholders, including members of Tuensang Town Baptist Pastors’ Union (TTBPU) led by Akhang Chang, representatives from all ward unions, 15 ward leaders, President of C Khel Tuensang village, Hakushang ward, and the dedicated staff of District Hospital, Tuensang.
Dr Tochi, the nodal officer for the Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy, in his keynote address, expressed the long-cherished aspiration of the hospital to establish an in-house pharmacy. The primary goal is to ensure the availability of high-quality drugs at a discounted rate for the benefit of the consumers. Dr Tochi emphasized that the establishment of this pharmacy aligns with government directives, leading to the immediate dis-empanelment of other private pharmacies from health insurance schemes.
Deputy Commissioner Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa extended congratulations to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of District Hospital and the entire team for the remarkable progress the hospital has achieved over the years. She acknowledged the critical role of the Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy in providing timely access to life-saving drugs, underlining the significance of every minute in saving a patient’s life.
The program, chaired by Imlienla, Senior Pharmacist, began with a prayer of dedication led by the President of TTBPU. Dr Puse Liegise, Medical Superintendent, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the realization of this transformative initiative.
Benediction was pronounced by Mongsenla, Fellowship In-Charge, District Hospital, Tuensang, symbolizing a sense of divine blessing on this new venture.
The inauguration of the Citizen’s Welfare Pharmacy not only represents a milestone for the District Hospital but also reinforces the commitment of the healthcare system to prioritize citizen welfare. As this facility becomes operational, it is expected to have a profound impact on healthcare accessibility, ensuring that quality drugs are within reach for all, thereby promoting a healthier and more resilient community in Tuensang.
