Sunday permit required to open shops on Sundays: KMC

Kohima, July 6 (MExN): As per the coordination meeting held on June 28 at Deputy Commissioner’s office chamber Kohima with regard to closure of shops/business establishments on Sundays within Kohima Municipality, the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) informed all business establishments/traders within its jurisdiction that w.e.f 10th July 2023, only shops with Sunday Permit issued by KMC will be allowed to open on all Sundays.

The Sunday permit will be issued as per the previous notification, where ten business establishments/shops only will be permitted in each ward after obtaining “No Objection Certificate” from the concerned ward chairman.

And in reference with the earlier notification, the following Business establishments/shops that are exempted from the purview are pharmacies, hotels, bakeries & barber shops. Any business establishment/shop or vendor doing business on Sunday without permit will be penalized as deemed fit and the materials/items will be seized/confiscated.

This was stated in a release issued by KMC Administrator, T Lanusenla Longkumer.
