Wokha, June 30 (MExN): Marking the International Day Against Drugs Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, DEF, Wokha organised a drawing competition under the theme ‘People First: Stop Stigma and Discrimination, Strengthen Prevention’ at SP Office, Wokha on June 26 last.
In order to raise awareness, all schools in the Wokha district were invited to participate in the event, and around 52 students from different schools took part in the drawing competition. The competition was held in two categories, stated a DIPR report.
ADC, Wokha Furhesie, DYRO, Libemo Jami, and Sr Supervisor Department of Social Welfare, Erenbeni were the panel of judges.
SP, Wokha Aotula T Imchen (IPS) thanked all the schools and participants for their involvement and for showcasing their talents. The SP further reiterated that it was the duty of every Government, NGO, and local body to protect its citizens from threats of drugs abuse. She also stressed on responsibility of the public to support efforts to educate the youths about the dangers of drug abuse and share information on any suspicious activities with concerned officers.
Different programmes were conducted at various police stations under the Wokha district to commemorate the day, Wokha PS along with Women PS held a seminar on drug abuse, where the councilor had an interactive session with the drug users present at the seminar.
At Bhandari PS, under SDPO Bhandari an interactive session was held with the students of GHSS Bhandari. Ralan PS held an inclusive seminar on drug abuse with the cooperation of the SDO (C) Ralan, the Director Youth Welfare Centre Dimapur, DBs, the village council chairman, and the 7th NAP Bhandari. Police Station Changpang and PS Sanis also conducted various activities to commemorate the day.
