NSRLM aims 100% saturation of target rural poor by 2024

Kohima, April 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has set a target of 100 percent coverage of 121260 target rural poor households by September 2023 as part of a nationwide social mobilization campaign.

The State Mission is looking at 85 Model Cluster Level Federations (MCLFs) evolving as Cooperative Society operating independently as self-managed, self-reliant and financially sustainable societies towards creation of wealth in an equitable gender-just society supported by an enabling ecosystem to realize its full potential of social and economic empowerment of rural households through the SHGs.

This was stated by M Rollan Lotha, Chief Operating Officer, NSRLM in his keynote address and presentation on Vision 2025 of the NSRLM during the state level Annual Action Plan (AAP) roll-out workshop for FY 2023-2024 being held at RD conference, Kohima from April 18 to 20.

FY 2023-2024 key focus areas
He further highlighted that this FY key focus area wherein 11 RD blocks will be developed as Gender immersion sites while FNHW and PRI-CBO convergence efforts will follow universalization strategy. Enterprise promotion for vulnerable communities such as the Elderly SHGs and SHGs for Persons with Disabilities will be explored in target areas.

80% SHGs households will be covered for promoting Agri-Nutri Gardens to encourage diet diversity and improve nutritional intake. Grounding of Enterprise Finance initiative to 110 SHGs and insurance coverage across all districts to 80000 SHGs are also in the key focus areas.

492600 digital transactions through 330 Business Correspondent (BC) channel will be enhanced. 400 Producers Groups will be promoted while 600 Mahila Kisans (Woman farmers) will be engaged in millet enterprise as part of initiatives for International Year of Millets.

20 Integrated Farming Clusters (IFC) of 3-5 Villages covering 5100 households is also targeted. Placement of 1670 rural youths in various jobs and promotion of 1224 rural enterprise are also focused upon.

Managerial staff from all districts and 74 RD blocks of Nagaland are participating in the workshop which will take stock of progress of each district and block with reviews by the state mission management unit (SMMU), NSRLM. Project Director DRDA and BDOs of some blocks attended the inaugural session.

Addressing participants, Kethosituo Sekhose NCS, PD Dimapur spoke about the remarkable progress that women are making across the state where their role is shifting from that of a homemaker, to leader in the society.

He exhorted the staff to facilitate women to understand that every saving they are making now will go a long way to benefit not only her children, but future generations as well.

Talking about the importance of convergence with other departments where similar works are being undertaken, he encouraged the participants to find out ways and means to work together for the benefit of the community as a whole. He appreciated the Mission’s efforts under DDUGKY skills program in investing in the youth who are now earning on their own.

Detailed roll-out plans will be presented by each thematic component under the Mission on day-two of the workshop and overall plans of each district will be prepared as per the state AAP.
