State level stakeholders meeting to amplify Covid-19 vaccination

KOHIMA, APRIL 10 (MExN): Momentum Routine Immunization Transformation and Equity project with its empanelled NGO Partner Indian Social Responsibility Network in collaboration with the State Health Department organized and conducted a one day Stakeholders Meeting with the HODs and teachers from different schools under Kohima at Hotel Ura on April 8. 

In the keynote address delivered by Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro, District Immunization Officer Kohima expressed gratitude to the schools for the immense support rendered to the health department in carrying out vaccination drive in the schools in the past two years. He said that the vaccination drive conducted in the schools was successful only because of the co-operation and support from the school authorities and parents. 

He again appealed to the school authorities to continue to support the health department in the coming days. The DIO also thanked the Project team for the technical support the team continues to render to the state in ramping up Covid-19 vaccination through Har Ghar Dastak, Har School Dastak, Har Office Dastak, school and community based activities and health camps conducted throughout the state. 

Dr Major Dhruba Jyoti Borah, Regional Manager John Snow India in his short speech expressed gratitude and appreciation to the school authorities and parents for the co-operation and support that was given to the project team while conducting vaccination drive in the schools. 

He also cited that Indian Social Responsibility Network (ISRN) the empanelled NGO partner of the project had conducted many vaccination camps in the schools through their support and they are also reaching out to the schools through various activities like painting, drawing and speech competitions. 

The Regional Manager spoke on the importance of Covid-19 vaccination and maintain Covid Appropriate Behavior at all times,  and further requested the HODs and teachers to kindly invite the project team during the Parents Teacher Association meetings so that the team can participate and address the gaps especially in Covid-19 vaccination during the meeting. 

Egumsing Nsarangbe, State Project Manager, India while delivering a short speech said that the meeting aims to retrospectively assess the success and challenges of Covid-19 vaccination especially conducted in the schools and share experiences to improve the future course of action. He also cited that this was the first time the project had conducted the Stakeholder meeting with the Educational Institutions and it was encouraging to see so many representatives from different schools participating in the meeting. 

He further mentioned that their presence only solidifies the testament of the support and co-operation that the school authority had rendered to the state health department. The State Project Manager also requested the school authorities to continue to support the project team in the future. He further presented the State’s comprehensive vaccination coverage data of the three cohorts- 12-14 years, 15-17 years and 18 years above. 

Martha Dukru, State Coordinator ISRN presented a comprehensive PPT which highlighted the vaccination coverage data and activities which has been implemented under Kohima district. 

The meeting was chaired by Rose, Communication Officer. A total of 45 representatives which included School Principal, Headmasters and Teachers from different schools under Kohima district participated in the meeting.
