DIMAPUR, April 1 (MExN): The Ato Area GBs Association (AAGBA) has decided to call of its indefinite bandh following a meeting with the EE (R& B) held in the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner, Niuland on March 31.
A copy of the meeting minutes issued by the Niuland DC reported the EE PWD (R&B) as stating that the department has given their best effort and multiple letters have been issued to the Contractor. He also apprised the members that the PM’s visit, G20 Summit and the General Elections had also affected the time duration on completion of the road construction.
The members of the Ato Area GBs Association voiced the grievances faced by the public and expressed their displeasure over the slow progress and stoppage of work. The members explained that they had called the bandh as the contractor has not fulfilled their demands as promised during the joint resolution meeting held on February 14 and submitted a 6 point memorandum.
The house discussed about the extension as sought by the Contractor to which the EE PWD (R & B) explained that if Extension of Time (EOT) is not given, the bills cannot be processed which will hamper the progress of work. Further, he explained that, it is the responsibility of the Contractor to complete the work as the tender is being allotted to him.
After thorough deliberation and discussion, the house requested the AAGBA to call off the bandh so that work may continue on certain terms and conditions.
Regarding point number one of the memorandum where it is stated that the machineries should be stationed at Hozukhe Village by March 31, the EE PWD( R&B) gave his technical advice that it will hamper the progress of the work for which the house resolved to let the work continue from as before.
The EE PWD (R &B) assured the house that the work will continue without stopping till completion. He was further asked to ensure that the contractor would complete the work at the earliest without compromising the quality and the work to be implemented according to DPR specification.
It was decided that the AAGBA would supervise the work under Ato Area jurisdiction and co-ordinate with the EE PWD R&B on a regular basis.
