Beat Contest (battle of the bands) held in Dimapur

The platform provided through the ANCSU has been the backbone of Naga society, especially in the fields of politics, music, sports, fashion designing and other key areas, Limasunep Jamir IGP (Range) stated on October 19, addressing the 3th day of the inter-collegiate meet organised by the All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) at Sakus Mission College, Dimapur.
Since its inception in the year 1979 when the State was still affiliated to NEHU, the ANCSU has been a torch bearer in promoting the rights and interest of Naga students, he added. “It has come a long way now as more than 40 years have passed.”
Besides, the student body has also played a significant role in tackling social and political issues as well, Jamir noted, adding the ANCSU has been at the forefront of highlighting land encroachment issues in government colleges, need of revamping exam patterns and delay in scholarship disbursement.
Meanwhile, Jamir reminded the students to be on guard against recurring divisions created within the society, adding: “As Christians, we are united by our faith.”
On a side note, he revealed that T John Longkumer, DGP, Nagaland Police, who was invited for the event, could not attend due to personal reasons.
Battle of bands Beat Contest held
As part of the third-day event, a total of seven bands from seven colleges affiliated to ANCSU participated in the Beat Contest titled ‘Battle of Bands’
Bands representing Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung, Kohima Science College, Jotsoma, St John College, Dimapur, Mount Mary College, Chümoukedima, Baptist College, Kohima, Dimapur Government College and Patkai Christian College took part in the contest.
A cash prize of Rs 10,000 has been reserved for the winner of the contest while the first runner-up will receive Rs 5000.
