Chümoukedima, October 19 (MExN): Patkai Christian College (Autonomous) and Emporium Training & Consultancy Pvt Ltd (ETCPL) Nagaland signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which among others is aimed at addressing the growing need of employment in the state.
PCC Principal, Dr Thepfuvilie Pierü and Temjenkala Aier CEO, ETCPL, Nagaland, signed the MOU in presence of core members from both the organisations in the office chamber of the college’s Principal, Administrative Block on October 18, the college stated in a press release.
The MOU seeks to ensure that students are placed in reputed companies in tourism and hospitality sectors after their graduation. It is further aimed at creating and enabling a network of collaboration to create recruitment opportunities for the unemployed youths in Nagaland, the release said.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO, ETCPL Temjenkala Aier informed that the tourism and hospitality sector is the largest with robust demand and attractive opportunities. To this end she said ETCPL is committed at placing the candidates in reputed organizations while ensuring their security.
ETCPL functions under the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Tourism &Hospitality Sector Skill Council, Government of India.
Aier underscored the importance of educational institutes’ role in ensuring employability for the youths. She added that ‘education without being employable’ is a serious issue of present times.
The need to infuse the understanding of employment among students should start early so as to prepare them, she stressed, adding that the onus lies on educational institutes. Proper counselling and guidance to the students on job opportunities is a way forward, she added.
The CEO informed that the ETCPL has a standing MoU with all the recruiting bodies/organisations in their network to ensure the security and safety of the candidates. Stating that Nagaland is one of the states with highest unemployment rate, she said more educational institutes should come forward for collaborations in providing avenues to the youths.
ETCPL assured to provide internship opportunities to the students of Multimedia and Mass Communication.
The organisation also provided sponsorship aid to the department for the upcoming three-day campus film festival under the theme ‘Exploring the World of Cinematic Realism’ scheduled to be held on November 1-3.
