‘Even one day with your loved ones makes all the difference’: Kenei Kuotsu

The idea of starting MonAram, a healthcare plan for the people of Nagaland dawned on Kenei Kuotsu when he lost his father—Rüselie Kuotsu, who met with an accident and eventually succumbed to injury in the year 2019.

“The idea came from my late dad. When he met with an accident, we managed to give immediate medical attention and he was discharged from the Intensive Care Unit because of that,” he recollects while speaking at the launch event and screening of promotional video of MonAram App at De Oriental Grand Hotel, Kohima on Saturday morning.

“Even one day with your loved ones makes all the difference and this is what MonAram hopes to achieve,” he expressed while dedicating it to his late father. MonAram was one of the top 3 winners of the first edition of Hackathon that was organised by StartUp Nagaland in partnership with the Department of Industries and commerce, and EduCentre School of Business last year.

With the view to make healthcare accessible and affordable to everybody, the MonAram Plan can be bought with just Rs 500 for a period of one year. A registered person can avail up to Rs 5000 against medical bills incurred due to accidents from any of the empanelled clinics/hospitals besides accidental dental up to Rs 2000 and Rs 50,000 to the nominee in the case of accidental death.

It has currently empanelled hospitals and clinics in the district of Zunheboto, Kohima, Dimapur, Tuensang, Mokokchung and Wokha. Earlier, in May, Brand Ambassador of MonAram, Thejakielie Zuyie along with his friend, Pelevizo Meyase rode across the districts of Nagaland as part of an awareness campaign for MonAram.

Announcing that MonAram App has been approved on Google Play Store, Kenei Kuotso also informed that the IOS version will be available for Apple Users. He further highlighted that they are working with partners in the neighbouring states to make the healthcare plan accessible to people in the Northeast.

In her introduction, his wife, Loliro Kuotso said that during the COVID-19 Lockdown, Kenei Kuotsu was busy thinking of ways on how to help our people in Nagaland. “His heart was always here,” she said. The couple currently live in Singapore. They have a son and a daughter.

MonAram is a social impact initiative of SpeakGuru—a foundation which Kenei Kuotsu founded in the year 2010 primarily to support and strengthen children with cancer and their families. Also with a keen interest in wildlife and conservation, under his initiative, SpeakGuru Foundation also donated a state-of-the-art incubator to the Blyths Tragopan Conservation and Breeding Centre (BTCBC) Kohima along with an inverter in 2017.

During the formal launch of the MonAram App today, a 5-minute promotional video by Dreamz Unlimited was also screened. Members of Dreamz Unlimited were also present for the launch.
