Seeks clarification from State Govt and IOCL

Dimapur, April 24 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party has stated that the UDA Government’s ‘deafening silence’ on the alleged fuel adulteration scam was “nothing but an admission that the Food and Civil Supplies department is directly involved in the racketeering through diversion of Kerosene to the fuel racketeers.”

Stating this in a press release on Saturday, the RPP requested the UDA government and the Advisor for Food and Civil Supplies to “show some guts and stop running scared on the issue.” It also said that the state government should issue clarification on how many litres of kerosene are received by the State of Nagaland each month and how many agencies across Nagaland are allotted the same.

Further, the RPP also sought clarification from the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) DGM on his claims that the “IOCL tankers were at the adulteration site for repairing works on the night of April 21.”

“The video evidence clearly shows IOCL tankers being connected to the motor pumps used for fuel adulteration, and when the RPP team entered the premises adulteration activity was in progress so there is no question of the trucks being there for repairing on that particular night. Very importantly, unless one is stupid, no fully loaded tanker drivers will enter workshops where gas or electric works are carried out,” it argued.

Referring to the DGM’s statement in a local daily that GPS Live tracking systems were fitted into the oil tankers, the RPP alleged that the “IOCL depot in Dimapur was very much aware of fuel adulteration racket in that particular area. In fact the active participation of the local IOCL in the racket cannot be ruled out.”

Meanwhile, citing a video recording, the RPP said that the name of the accused, who is also allegedly an accused in a previous adulteration case, is clearly mentioned by those in the adulteration site. As such, “the authorities man-hunting for some Ashok is akin to ignoring the elephant in the room,” it added.
