The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) official kit containing two sets of jerseys, track suit, and jogging shoes, was launched today during a ceremony graced by K. Kire, DGP (Rtd) and president of Nagaland Veteran Football Association.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, Kire recalled how the Nagaland football team was on the top in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.

In this regard, he expressed sadness on how Nagaland football team has failed to retain its position over the years.
As 20 football players from Kohima district are set to represent the district at the forthcoming XXII Dr. T. Ao Inter- District Football Championship 2022, Kire encouraged the players to give their best and advised them to be dedicated, faithful and to exhibit the sportsmanship.

He urged the players to take the tournament as an opportune time to learn from other teams.

Further, he also advised the young footballers to learn time management and to pursue their area of interest passionately.

Roko Angami, senior vice president of KDFA and president of the Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) while sharing a testimony of his football journey encouraged the players to maintain both team discipline and self discipline.

As the neighboring states of Assam and Manipur has been excelling in sports, he said that Nagas too can excel if the players are committed and determined.

He told the players to consider football as a profession and not merely as a hobby.

20 players are set to represent Kohima district for Dr. T. Ao Inter-district football championship to be held at Mokokchung from April 18-29.
