DIMAPUR, DEC 21 (NPN) : The joint council meeting of the NSCN (Reformation) re-affirmed its full faith and trust on the collective leadership– president Y. Wangtin Naga and ato kilonser P. Tikhak.
According to NSCN (R) MIP secretary, the meeting held at its designated camp, was attended by all senior party leaders led by advisors to the collective leaders, kilonsers and top military officials where the members reaffirmed their support by way of raising hands. MIP said that a re-commitment service, was also observed in the council Church to serve, under the banner of “Nagaland for Christ”, with more vigour, sincerity and dedication for the Naga national cause.
Further, the join council meeting observed that Akato Chophi, who was in charge of chaplee (finance) from 2017 till August 2021, had allegedly “misappropriated huge amount of government funds to the tune of around Rs. 7 crores from the national exchequer.”
The house also alleged that Akato “stole at least 46 (forty six) numbers of arms from the National Armory before deciding to quit the national service.”
MIP said that the house found Akato guilty of indulging in malicious campaign against the NSCN (Reformation).
“These are not only an act of treachery but also an act of betrayal to the Naga national cause and a highly punishable offence. He has been found guilty on at least 3 (three) counts on national principle,” MIP stated.
After thorough deliberation, MIP said that the house decided to give Akato one week time, from the date of publication of this article, to return all the government properties, including the arms and ammunition and the money he misappropriated.
NSCN (R) warned that it would be forced to its own course of action, if Akato failed to comply with the deadline, adding that NSCN (R) should not be held responsible for any untoward incident.
Pointing out that the arms was the national property of NSCN (R), MIP said that they would “go to any extent to recover the lost weapons and money from Akato under any circumstances and will not compromise on the stolen weapons even if he (Akato) chose to join one of the faction/groups.”
It therefore, appealed to all “honorable Naga leaders; working under different Naga political banners that, while accepting Akato please, don’t accept the stolen arms. Just because of a demented man let us not infuse a bad blood among Naga brethrens.”
