Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, SEP 12 (NPN) : Dimapur Naga Students Union (DNSU) installed its new team of office bearers at its 20th general session here, at IMC hall on Saturday.
In his speech, commissioner of police (CP) Dimapur, Rothihu Tetseo stressed on how student community was important in building unity in the society.
On keeping traditional values alive, Rothihu suggested the gathering wear one’s own cultural costumes to show genuine cultural appreciation and to preserve and understand the ways of the past.
Delivering a solidarity speech, Naga Students Federation (NSF) president Kegwayhun Tep lauded DNSU for being a force in uniting the student community to come under one umbrella.
He said that Dimapur being the gateway of Nagaland, the union had a task to shoulder and that they have been playing a vital role in doing so.
He encouraged the students to rebuild the trust of the elders and work together to carry forward the aspirations of the community.
Speech on behalf of advisor power, H Tovihoto Ayemi was read out by former DNSU, secretary education and statistics Tenyibinlo Himb.
The advisor in his message said that DNSU has been at the forefront along with other organisations to voice its concern for social justice, rights of the public, corruption and many issues of concern which effected the interest of student community and general public.
The new DNSU office bearers would be led by Moayanger Jamir as president, Mhajan Tsopoe as vice president and Sedelo T Vadeo as general secretary along with six other members.
It may be mentioned that there are four more posts lying vacant and are yet to be filled.
At the programme, residential address was delivered by outgoing DNSU president Sedevilie Angami and general secretary report was delivered by DNSU former general secretary and vice president B Mhajan Tsopoe.
Earlier, first floor of DNSU office building was inaugurated by Tovihoto Ayemi and dedicatory prayer was said by DSBC senior pastor, rev. S Vitoshe Swu. Toppers were felicitated at the programme.
