Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, SEP 10 (NPN) : Dimapur Ao Baptist Church (DABA) launched the sixth edition of “Made in DABA”, an initiative of DABA youth ministry at the Church premises here, on Friday.
Addressing media fraternity, DABA youth director, Jungshimanen informed that Made in DABA was aimed at holistic growth and was focused on economic upliftment and encouraged dignity of labour among the youth.
While stating that although Dimapur was the commercial hub with many opportunities, he lamented how 80-90% of the economy was controlled by outsiders.
In this regard, he added that DABA youth ministry has been attempting to bring youth entrepreneurs by organising sales day, providing logistics, etc.
He also informed that due to the pandemic, the assistance was diverted from offline to online with an Instagram page created by DABA under the handle, “made_in_daba” where locally made products were sold.
He reiterated that the main purpose of the initiative was to promote local entrepreneurs and locally made products, to solve unemployment problems, encourage dignity of labour, act as facilitator by providing platform to young local entrepreneurs and to impart Christian Doctrine of giving tithes to Church.
When asked about future plans, he disclosed that they would incorporate services such as photography, makeup artistry, tutoring, etc.
He also informed that products ordered from September 10 to 15 would be delivered on 18 without any delivery charges.
Jungshimanen said that as of now, only members from DABA youth ministry were given preference.
He however added that the Church might provide platforms for other Naga youth entrepreneurs in the future.
With regard to the achievement of entrepreneurs through Made in DABA, proprietor of Mix Pick enterprises, Rongsenmongla Jamir delivered a brief message on how the platform had helped her achieve success.
It was informed that one local product named “cold mountain” was now being sold at the international markets.
It may be mentioned that currently, Made in DABA VI has 83 local entrepreneurs registered.
