‘Naturally Nagaland’ outlet launched in Dimapur

Staff Reporter DIMAPUR, JUL 10 (NPN) : Naturally Nagaland, an initiative under the state government to promote organic Agri and allied products, finest arts, crafts, handlooms of the state, was launched here, on Friday, at 4th mile.

The outlet was launched by Agricultural production commissioner (APC), Y Kikheto Sema.

Addressing the media persons, Kikheto informed that the idea was conceived in 2020 and was an initiative of former chief secretary, late Temjen Toy, who, on February 27, 2020, renamed the state emporium at Delhi as Naturally Nagaland to promote the finest arts, crafts, handlooms, and organic products of the state.

He said that the outlet was conceptualised to promote food, craft, textile and agri products of local farmers and entrepreneurs, where through Naturally Nagaland brand, entrepreneurs and farmers are being encouraged to sell their finished and processed products.

He however added that while promoting Naturally Nagaland brand, the government would not derecognise entrepreneurs who had already created their own brand and had established an image in the market.

Kikheto encouraged the youth to take up entrepreneurship as a way of income stating that the state government had reached “LOC” saturation point as far as employees in the government sector was concerned.

Speaking at the programme, additional director, DUDA, Anungla Phom stated that an entrepreneur or a farmer, who wished to sell their products at the Naturally Nagaland store, would need to pay a rent of Rs. 1000 per month which also guaranteed their products to be sold in the stores at Delhi and Kolkata.

She also informed that very soon, the store would go to the entrepreneurs.

Commissioner and secretary, horticulture, Anenla Sato said that the agri and allied department had been trying to promote local dishes and products at the Hornbill festival. She however said that the opening of the store would help reach out to organic and local made products across and outside the state.

Earlier, director, horticulture, Dr. R Elithung Lotha, director, agriculture, Ben Yanthan, chief engineer, water resources, Hotovi Aye, managing director, NHHDC, Zakabo Rotokha, and other officers from agri & allied departments and missions attended the launching programme.

It may be mentioned that this is the first outlet in the state, while the next would be launched in Kohima. The state government also aims to launch the stores in other parts of the state and outside with large numbers Naga population.
