Nagaland celebrates Easter with religious fervour

It was the day of soul searching, and fresh beginning as Nagaland joined the rest of the world in celebrating Easter Sunday with religious fervour and gaiety on April 4.
The day was marked by midnight vigil, sunrise services, and candlelight procession besides special devotional and other services.
Believers also shared the messages of Easter as well as greeted and blessed each other invoking the significance of the day.
Commemorating Christ’s resurrection from after His Crucifixion on Good Friday on Mount Calvary, Easter Sunday or Resurrection Day is considered one of the most significant days for Christians.
The solemnity of the occasion was further enhanced as Good Friday and Easter Sunday services were mostly foregone or went online last year due to the restriction on religious gathering amid the COVID-19 lockdown measures.
Most worshippers on Sunday attended the services wearing masks and following other safety norms.
The ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ made for the sins of human and His resurrection signifying triumph over sins and death were central messages delivered on the day.
In many churches, the celebrations were also marked by baptism of the youth and others, strengthening their faith in Christ as well as their formal recognition as members of their respective churches.
Holy Communions were also observed in many churches.
Earlier, Nagaland Governor RN Ravi also greeted the people of Nagaland on Easter and wished them “‘good health, happiness and a fulfilling life.”
“Jesus died on the Cross and rose to save us from sin and suffering. He has been the God, the guide and the teacher,” the Governor said in his message, further noting that Jesus’ teachings have been inspirational for leaders all around the world and transformed the lives of billions of people.
“The Sermon on the Mount became the cardinal principle of Mahatma Gandhi’s personal and public life,” he added.
The Governor further said that “Only God’s counsel on peace, love, truth, forgiveness and non-violence will usher us to an ideal and progressive society.”
“May the true spirit of Easter be with all of us. I wish you all good health, happiness and a fulfilling life. Happy Easter! God bless Nagaland!” he added.
Taking to Twitter, Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio also greeted the people state and said that Easter was a time of renewal and awakening.
‘Easter is a time of renewal and awakening. May the miracle of Easter bring renewed hope, faith, love and joy; all received through God’s divine grace. My best wishes for a happy and a blessed Easter Sunday,’ Rio stated in his message.
