New Delhi, December 26 (Agencies): India’s coronavirus caseload rose to 1,01,69,118 on Saturday with 22,272 new infections being reported in a span of 24 hours, while total recoveries crossed 97.40 lakh, according to Union Health Ministry data.
On Saturday morning, the death toll due to coronavirus increased to 1,47,343 after 336 people succumbed to the virus. The health ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths occurred due to comorbidities.
India has currently 2,81,667 active coronavirus cases. The total discharged cases stood at 97,40,108 with 22,274 new discharges in the last 24 hours.
The trend of more daily recoveries from coronavirus than the number of new infections has led to a continuous contraction of India’s active caseload which presently stands at 2,81,667 and accounts for less than three per cent of the total infections.
Continuing with the trend of the last 29 days, India has reported more daily recoveries than the daily new cases in a span of 24 hours.
