Three professors from NU make Top 2% Scientists list for 2024

LUMAMI, SEPTEMBER 21 (MExN): Nagaland University has announced that three of its faculty members have been recognized in the prestigious Top 2% Scientists list for 2024, released by Elsevier and Stanford University. The faculty members honored are Prof Ambrish Singh from the Department of Chemistry, Prof Joginder Singh from the Department of Botany, and Prof Sujata Dash, Professor and Head of the Department of Information Technology. 

The prestigious list was published on September 16, 2024, a press release issued by NU PRO Peter Ki informed. 

Prof Ambrish Singh has achieved this recognition for the past five consecutive years, while Prof Joginder Singh has been included in the list for the last two years. Prof Ambrish Singh completed his PhD at Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University in Jaunpur. Prior to joining Nagaland University, he was a Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Southwest Petroleum University in Chengdu, China, from January 2016 to May 2023. His experience includes roles as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Assistant Professor at various institutions. He has an H-index of 52, over 9,500 citations, and has published more than 185 research papers in high-impact journals. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) and the Indian Chemical Society (ICS), and he has received various accolades, including the Sichuan 1000 Talent and Presidents Award for Young Scientists.

Prof Joginder Singh holds an MSc in Botany, which he earned in 2000, and completed his PhD in 2003. With over 20 years of research experience, he has secured over 20 million rupees in research grants, published more than 200 articles, and edited 32 books. His previous roles include Research Associate at the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Young Scientist in a Department of Science and Technology project.

Prof Sujata Dash obtained her Ph.D. from Berhampur University and completed a Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Manitoba, Canada. She also holds an Advanced Diploma in Bioinformatics from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, and an MTech in Computer Science and Engineering. In 2017, she received the Titular Fellowship from the Association of Commonwealth Universities in the UK. With a substantial publication record, she has authored over 200 technical papers and holds twelve patents along with multiple copyrights and edited books.

Prof JK Patnaik, Vice Chancellor of Nagaland University, expressed pride in the achievement, stating, “This is a remarkable achievement for Nagaland University, reflecting the perseverance and unwavering dedication of the three faculty members.”

The Top 2% Scientists list, published on September 16, 2024, evaluates scientists based on various metrics, including total citations, H-index, and co-author impact, providing a comprehensive overview of leading researchers across disciplines.
