Dimapur, March 15 (MExN): The Food & Civil Supplies, Nagaland on Monday launched the programme for sale of 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinders popularly known as ‘Chhotu Cylinder’ through Fair Price Shops (FPSs).
Addressing the launching programme at M/s V Phushika Awomi Fair Price Shop, Walford, Dimapur, H Thangzamuan, Manager (CC&LPG-S) Dimapur LSA-I, OICL stated that “Nagaland is the first state in the North East India to launch the said scheme.”
The scheme was launched by V Lovitoly Sema, NCS, Director, F&CS, Nagaland in the presence of the Chairman, GB, some NFSA beneficiaries of Walford Colony, Dimapur along with the officers and staff of F&CS, stated a press release received here.
The director in his address said that ‘sale of 5 kg FTL cylinder through FPSs’ is one of the Ministry’s programme on transformation of FPSs viz. a new initiative to improve the viability of FPS for sustainability and effective delivery of targeted PDS at the FPS Level.
Through this scheme, the 78 selected FPSs under Dimapur Sadar, will get mapped with the nearest Gas Agency(ies) of IOCL and the particular FPS will cater to the service of the public in the surrounding area/neighbourhood.
“Keeping in mind the needs of the public including migrant population with no current address proof like students/ young professionals and households with limited LPG consumption, the department has tied up with the IOCL and has taken the initiative to launch the said scheme,” she said.
In the 1st phase, the department has launched the ‘sale of Chhotu Cylinder’ under Dimapur-Sadar and gradually, it will be rolled out in the rest of the districts. Therefore, the director requested all the FPS dealers in Nagaland to avail the facility provided for their additional income and also to make the LPG available to the public at their door step.
The programme was chaired by I Anungba Sanglir, Deputy Director, F&CS and concluded with vote of thanks by S Kavito Aomi, ADS, Dimapur.
