DIMAPUR, AUG 16 (NPN): Nagaland on Sunday recorded 54 fresh COVID-19 cases, taking the tally to 3394 cases– 1958 active, 1422 recovered, 8 deaths and 6 migrated.
State Health minister, S. Pagnyu Phom in a tweet said that the 26 fresh cases were detected in Kohima, 21 in Dimapur and 7 in Zunheboto. As per the severity of symptoms, 1954 cases are asymptomatic, 1 mild and 3 moderate cases.
According to Health department’s data (cases by domicile district), Dimapur has 1637 cases, followed by Kohima- 839, Peren- 343, Mon- 288, Zunheboto- 100, Tuensang- 53, Phek- 32, Wokha- 29, Mokokchung- 18, Longleng- 5, Kiphire- 4 and others- 46.
Further, out of the 3,394 positive cases, the distribution across various categories of people include 1,481 personnel of the Armed Forces, 1,168 returnees, 215 frontline workers, 476 traced contacts and 54 others. According to Health department, the current doubling time of COVID cases was 14 days. It has reduced from 18 days in the previous week.
India COVID tally crosses 26-L mark
Agencies: The coronavirus cases in India jumped to 2,619,177 with 63,489 new infections on Sunday as the country became the third most affected by the pandemic in the world, reports Business Standard. The death toll crossed 50,000-mark with 944 deaths in 24 hours, according to Health Ministry.
India has been reporting over 60,000 cases daily since August 7, barring August 11 when it registered 53,601 new infections.
