DIMAPUR, July 17 : National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated 39 years of service on July 12. To commemorate the foundation day, a programme was organised by the regional office of NABARD at Dimapur on July 16.
Speaking at the programme as chief guest, minister for agriculture and cooperation, G. Kaito Aye congratulated the staff and thanked them for their unstinted support to the state government and various agencies for the development of the people of Nagaland.
He encouraged NABARD, banks, NGOs and government departments to work together so that the progress of development in all spheres could be accelerated.
GM/OIC of NABARD, Nagaland regional office, Tiakala Ao outlined NABARD’s journey since its establishment in 1982 and highlighted major milestones of the bank over the past four decades touching on the interventions supported by NABARD in the state of Nagaland.
While acknowledging the role of various stakeholders in the development journey, she reiterated NABARD’s commitment towards sustainable growth and called upon all the stakeholders to work with renewed focus in achieving the priorities set for a meaningful rural development.
During the programme, two booklets were release which included a handbook on rural infrastructure development fund for implementing departments of the state government and unit cost for farm sector activities for the year 2021-22.
Earlier, G Kaito Aye also launched the scheme of comprehensive support plan for cooperatives in which, Rs.99.08 lakh was sanctioned to the Nagaland state cooperative bank (NStCB) ltd. from NABARD’s cooperative development fund.
The minister handed over the sanction letter to managing director, Nagaland state cooperative bank ltd, Abhijit Deb. Kaito also flagged off the mobile ATM van procured by the NStCB under NABARD’s financial inclusion fund. A.K. Deb, MD of NStCB and P. Bulte, DGM of NABARD also spoke on the occasion.
SLBC convenor A. Hembram, chairman, NRB, V.V Narayana, representatives of banks and NGOs also attended the foundation day programme.
