Tuensang, June 1 (MExN): The Yimchungberü Arih-Ako Shamator Area (YBASA) today stated that it supports the five-point memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland on May 26 by Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC), Shamator in regard to the non-availability of adequate manpower and other workforce at Community Health Centre (CHC), Shamator.
YBASA, President, Toshila and General Secretary, Tsurila highlighted that two pharmacists were transferred from CHC Shamator in the year 2017 and 2019 respectively without their reliever. A Laboratory Technician passed away in 2019 and no appointment has been made or reliever deployed till date.
“In this scenario and amidst the surging pandemic, even the Cook is assigned to take up the role of pharmacists at CHC Shamator as the concern authority has failed to deploy or provide workforce against the resultant vacancy,” the organization stated.
As a matter of fact, the lone CHC Shamator continues to cater health amenities for the people of entire populace and in the wake of surge in the detection of COVID-19 positive cases, those frontline workers who are presently stationed at Shamator are made to bear the brunt from every angle due to shortage of manpower and lack of basic requirements of a Community Health Centre, it emphasized.
Under this given circumstances, the YBASA appealed the concerned authority to immediately address public demand submitted to the Chief Minister of Nagaland by the Joint Co-ordination Committee (JCC) Shamator and deploy additional three doctors let by Senior Medical Officer (SMO), five staff nurses, Pharmacists, Technician, TrueNat Machine and Ambulance with Advance Life Support System at CHC Shamator in the greater interest of public health and safety at the earliest please.
STSU: The Shamator Town Students’ Union also expressed dismay over the fact that the ‘CHC Shamator since its inception and its up-gradation to CHC on May 7, 2014 has been left unattended with inadequate facilities like shortage of manpower, poor infrastructures and proper medical equipments.’
STSU, President, Dopong and General Secretary, Rekhum K in a press release said that the people of Shamator area, with no other options available, are left at the mercy of the nature adding to the miserable life inflicted upon by the “step-motherly treatments in all spheres be it politically, socially and economically.”
Since the surge of COVID-19 positive cases from Shamator town and the consequent mismanagement and lackadaisical attitude by the concerned authorities of the Medical Department, the innocent public had to bear all the brunt even at the cost of their lives, the students alleged.
We are dismayed over the fact that our people are being neglected since time immemorial and if this attitude of the government and the people continues, the future of our people looks very gloomy.
If the demands/memorandums are not fulfilled, the STSU said it is “ever ready to go to any extend for achieving our common goals and interests through any democratic means and assure the JCC and the CSOs for our support in any time and events.”
RVSU: The Rurur Village Students’ Union (RVSU) has extended its support towards the demand of the Joint Co-Ordination Committee (JCC) on May 26 demanding adequate manpower and facilities at Community Health Centre (CHC) Shamator town addressed to Chief Minister of Nagaland through the ADC Shamator.
RVSU, President, Kumcho H Limkhiungkhiungru and General Secretary, T Akum in a press release said that it stands with the decision and demand of the JCC and civil society organization (CSOs).
It reminded the State government that the citizens of Shamator and its area are “time and again neglected, deprived and discriminated of the basic medical necessities and requirement.” RVSU appealed the State government to stop “step-motherly” treatment to its people and put efforts to bring public requirements at earliest.
It demanded to immediately deploy the manpower required at CHC Shamator. Failure on the part of the government to comply with the plea of the citizens, RVSU will extend full support to the decision of JCC and CSOs, it added.
