A three-day long 77th General Conference of the Chakhesang Students’ Union (CSU) commenced this afternoon at Losami village under the theme “Breaking Barriers, Shaping the Future.”
Altogether 70 units under CSU have registered for the conference, which will continue till February 2.
Addressing the introductory session, MLA Dr Neisatuo Mero urged the students to strike opportunity in right time. “Never regret in life for not utilizing your time in a proper way as life is short,” he said. “You must know how to divide your time,” he added.
Stating that Nagas have lots of festivities, social gatherings, religious gatherings etc, Dr Mero felt the need to cut down some of the activities and more on quality time to have a better society.
“I want all of you to divide your time judiciously in pursuance of education,” he said.
He called upon the students to fully dedicate to their studies and work hard to excel in life.
Touching on competitive world, he said, when we see the present scenario it is- “Survival of the fittest”. The degree of competition is too high. “Don’t ever think because your parents are wealthy, educated or from a high family, you can compete and succeed; It is from your inner calling and hard work that will enable you to compete with energy and go through the process of long suffering as it is not a short term but it is a long term preparation to compete with others,” he said.
He also added that ‘now we have the best education policies in India as well as in our State, where the Department is trying its best to implement it.’ “We have the best teachers, lecturers with required qualification in teaching. Our State is no where less from other states,” he added.
He also expressed happiness over the Department in streamlining the non-functional schools, to keep teachers balance in different schools of the state and providing Education materials to have better Education system in the state.
Earlier, Dr Mero inaugurated CSU Road at Losami. Chakhesang Youth Front (CYF) President Kevesa Khamo and Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) President Rongley Leyri shared greetings and solidarity message respectively.
The session was chaired by CSU Tribunal Member Vetho Vadeo while Kesowe Mekrisuh, Pastor Losami Baptist Church invoked God’s blessing. LOC convenor Wepete Mekrisuh delivered welcome address while CSU Deputy Speaker Chekholo Akami made introduction of CSU units. CSU General Secretary Pei Kezo highlighted the current activities of the CSU.
Dzüve Venuh and Ralü Yhobu presented special songs. The introductory session concluded with benediction by Kekhwewe, Head Deacon Losami Baptist Church.
The session was followed by Union Assembly with prayer by Medowecho-u Mekrisuh, Youth Director, Losami Baptist Church.
Meanwhile, Nagaland Power & Parliamentary Affairs Minister KG Kenye will grace the inaugural session on February 1 at 9:00 am.
