Dr. S.C Jamir graces cultural extravaganza

The second day of the 18th Hornbill festival cultural extravaganza, which was organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC) under the theme ‘Culturally Yours’, was graced by Governor of Odisha, Dr. S.C Jamir as the chief Guest.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Jamir said that December is an important month for the Naga people from both historical and Christianity point of view as Nagas attained their Statehood on 1st December 1963 and is a Christian state. He said Hornbill festival is the right platform to showcase our ethnicity to tourists coming from abroad and different parts of the world. He also said that Nagas have been endowed with unique talents and Hornbill Festival is the common place where everyone get their right opportunity to exhibit their talents.

The cultural presentations of the day included BerilNyijirNgunu  by Arunachal Pradesh, Moran Bihu by Assam, Pung, Thangta& Stick Dance by Manipur, Shad Suk Mynsiem by Meghalaya, Cheraw by Mizoram, Rai Silli by Sikkim, SangraiMog by Tripura and partner state EK Bharat Shreshtha Bharat (EBSB) performed by Madhya Pradesh (Culture Troupe).

 

IPR, Tourism & IT departments felicitated

The Departments of Information & Public Relations, Tourism and Department of Information Technology & Communication were felicitated by Reliance JioInfocomm Ltd. Today, the 2nd Dec 2017, at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama for digitization of Hornbill Festival 2017.

Business Manager, Reliance Jioinfocom Ltd. Kohima, Nagaland, MoatemsuImkong in his short speech said that the Government of Nagaland along with reliance jio has taken the hornbill festival towards a digital platform. He stated that the Departments of IPR, Tourism and IT has set up a communication channel on mobile app “Jio chat” in the name of ‘Nagaland Hornbill Festival’. He said that people from across the globe can get access to live streaming, video clips and photographs of major events at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on ‘Jio chat’ and congratulated the three departments for working tirelessly towards achieving the purpose. He also looked forward to such associations in future as well.

Director IPR, LimawatiAo, Director, Tourism, K.Sekhose and Additional Director & HOD, IT &C. TongtilibaLongkumer received the certificates of appreciation on behalf of the respective departments.

 

Director of North East Council (NEC) visits Kisama

 

Director of North East Council (NEC) M.R Mahapatra, who is on a three day visit to Nagaland, also visited the Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on 2nd December, 2017.

He witnessed the cultural extravaganza organized by North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZECC) under the theme ‘Cultural Yours’ and also toured the exhibition halls and morungs of different tribes. He was also accorded a warm welcome at the Media Centre at Kisama where he interacted with officials from the IPR department.

WWII Peace Rally culminates

“Let us take the rally as a mark to bring about realization to bring peace and prosperity in the State” said Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism, C. Apok Jamir. He was speaking as the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the World War II Peace Rally which culminated at World War II museum premise on 2nd December, 2017.

The peace rally is basically a commemoration of the World War II, to retrospect on the destruction and all that had taken place, Apok Jamir maintained. He pointed that the destruction caused during the war gave an opportunity to soul searching. Peace is the pre-requisite for development he stated, calling on the gathering to take the rally as a mark to bring about peace and prosperity.

Ponen, a participant in an interview pointed on the need to bring about professionalism in the participants. Inviting participants ahead of time will ensure an increase in participation he said, expressing his anticipation for growth of the rally.

The rally organized by Nagaland Adventure and Motor Rally Association and sponsored by the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland was earlier flagged off at Multipurpose State Stadium, Dimapur by Commissioner of Taxes, Mhathung Murry. The prize distribution ceremony was chaired by TokahoKinimi. Rally Commander, Moa Longkumer presented a report of the rally. A total of 11 jeeps consisting of 25 participants, including 4 women crew participated at the rally.

The World War II Peace Rally is an annual event organized to promote our history, particularly our history during the World War II, and the battlefield at Kohima, which is considered the Stalingrad of the east. The rally is a way of celebrating our history of the war periods.

Winners of the various categories:

Best uniform squad: Car no. 4- Kanato, Kashito, Tonika and Kaka.

Most disciplined squad: Car no. 6- Vinito, Kito and Inato Sumi.

Best all women squad: Car no. 11- Alebu, Velhukhalu, Keneichanuo and Kehoule-u,

Best tourism promotion squad: Car no. 8- Tovika, Akato and Samual

Best maintained vehicle: Car no. 5- Er. Imsukaba and Aren

Best original vehicle: Car no. 3- Aron, Anoka Vikaito, Diku and Norbert.

 

NTA Organizes city and village tour

 

Nagaland Tourism Association (NTA) is organizing city tour and village tour as part of the Hornbill festival which began on 2ndDecember, 2017 at Naga Heritage village, Kisama.

The main purpose of this tour is to showcase the lifestyle of Naga people domiciled in the villages and get to know the city better. While touring, the participants would be visiting Kohima city besides Khonoma and Kigwema.

Naga Chef Season 5 begins

 

Naga Chef Season- 5 began at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama today the 2nd of December, 2017. The competition is a live cooking event and intends to establish a platform for any Naga cooks who have the potential to promote indigenous Naga food globally. The annual event is being organized by Synergy Group Enterprise in partnership with the Department of Tourism, Government of Nagaland. The event aspires to showcase the varied delicacies of the different tribes during the festival by the way of presenting Naga indigenous cuisines of high quality, aiming to reach the value of international standards.

Naga Chef, an annual cooking competition to promote indigenous Naga cuisine. The competition will have number of rounds to enable identification of the various skills required to be a successful chef and entrepreneur. The competition has the objective of increasing the appreciation of the ingenious cuisine. Naga Chef aspires to keep the old age recipes alive, besides letting the world discover the soul feeling and mouthwatering wonders of our local cuisine.

The winner of the Naga Chef season 5 will walk away with a cash prize of 3 lakh besides many more benefits and opportunities. Altogether 10 contestants participated.
