Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association Calls For Prayer and Fasting Programme

 

Tangkhul Baptist Churches Association (TBCA) has call for one day prayer and fasting programme for the Naga Peace talk on 1st September 2019 in all Tangkhul churches within and outside the state of Manipur.

 

In a press conference held at TBCA Headquarter, Alungtang Ukhrul,  the Association has appealed all Tangkhul churches irrespective of denomination to joint together in prayer and fasting programme for an honourable and peaceful solution. “As a Christian, it is our bounden duty to pray to God for peaceful coexistence of all. It is also a time to pray for an honourable solution, a solution without hurting the sentiments of any community”.

 

 

The Indo-Naga Pecae talk has been dragging on for 22 years for an honourable solution. The Association informed that it has sent an appealed to all its member churches to organise a prayer and fasting programme on the first Sunday of September.  The Association also fervently appealed to every Tangkhul churches to pray for the same cause as it is the desire of every Tangkhul in particular and Nagas in general.

 

TBCA Finance Promoter, Ayo Valui stated that TBCA’s earnest desire as a “Christian organisation is to peacefully coexist as one in Christ by serving, forbearing and loving one another; and to preach the good news to all nation”.

 

Ayo Valui Awungshi informed that the Association has started refresher course at Wung Baptist Theological College situated at their Headquarter. He informed that the first batch consist of Pastors of Baptist Churches from Tangkhul areas.

 

He also mentioned that TBCA has been involved with educational projects such as Alice Christian Higher Secondary School, the oldest coed institution in Manipur. The school was set up in 1897 by first missionary William Pettigrew and  his wife Alice Pettigrew it was then known as Ukhrul Mission School. The name of the school was changed to Alice Christian High School in 1980. This was administered under TBCA Women Department as one of their project. Today,  the school has a strength of about 1000 students. It has produced some of the best students from Ukhrul District and in 2018, it’s HSLC Examination result was the best in Ukhrul District. The Association has also set up 50 bedded girls hostel and 40 bedded boys hostel at its headquarter informed Ayo Valui Awungshi.
