DIMAPUR, MAY 6 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister, TR Zeliang today convened a joint meeting of National Highways (PWD), National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL) and Border Road Task Force (BRTF) at Civil Secretariat conference hall.
This was the first joint meeting of all the road projects implementing agencies in the State after the former Chief Minister took over charge of National Highway.
At the over 3-hours deliberation, Zeliang called upon the 3 road projects implementing agencies to complete the road projects at hand within specified period in order to provide quality roads to the people as per DPR specifications and contract agreements, a press communiqué issued by the Office of the Deputy Chief Minister, Planning & National Highway informed.
While maintaining that all roads in the State should be aimed in benefitting the common man, Zeliang said that the 3 implementing agencies were answerable to the people who are the primary stakeholders.
Further, declaring that his primary objective was to provide sustainable roads to the people of the State, Zeliang said that as Minister In-charge of National Highways, he was also responsible to update the State Government and the people on the progress and status of all National Highways in the State.
Assuring full cooperation for successful implementation and success of road projects in the State, the former Chief Minister said that his concern was to complete the ongoing projects within specified period and not to compromise with quality of roads.
While expressing his eagerness to work together with the 3 implementing agencies in constructing good roads in the State, Zeliang called upon the agencies to give their best and be an example to the rest of the state in the country.
