Correspondent KOHIMA, JUN 22 (NPN) : The virtual “World Music Day 2021” went live on YouTube, Monday, at 6 p.m. with participation from musicians across Nagaland and the North East region.
The event, organised by Musicians Guild Nagaland and supported by TaFMA and NSDMA, was held to raise COVID relief fund for COVID patients from the economically weaker sections of the state and musicians who have been affected by the pandemic.
The live event was hosted by Yanpvuo Kikon and Mengu Suokhrie with a range of renowned personalities making guest appearances and presenting the Musicians Guild Music Awards 2021.
The list of performers included About Us, Trance Effect, The Wishess, Tune Up Channel, Rap Cypher, Seysei, Abdon Mech, Imliakum Aier, Arenlong Longkumer, Papersky, KL Pamei, Version 2, Sungjem Mar Jamir, Megh and Elysian among others.
Alongside the live performances, the MG Music Awards were also presented.
The panel of judges for the awards were Fiona Pachuau, Sanam Puri, Ehsaan Noorani and Among Jamir.
220 entries were received from seven North Eastern states: Arunachal Pradesh; Assam; Manipur; Mizoram; Tripura; Meghalaya and Nagaland for the awards.
Best Indie Pop went to Abdon Mech (Nagaland) for the song Again; best gospel award-Achumla Jingrü (Nagaland) for Holo Hele; electronic music award-Run Monday Run (Nagaland) for the song Zongza; best pop song: Moondrip (Nagaland) for the song Lt Down; best sound engineer: Tongs Kichu, Odi Studio (Nagaland) for the song Clowns; best hip hop: Prodg’s (Nagaland) for Paigham.
Best Rock Song – About Us (Nagaland) for the song Gimme Gimme presented by Alobo Naga; best music video: Abdon Mech (Nagaland) for the song Give Me My Soul Back; song of the year-Trance Effect (Nagaland) for the song Clowns; most promising artiste: Temsu Clover, Joshua Shohe and Klanjung.
Viewers during the live performances peaked close to 2000.
