Meteorological report of Nagaland 2022 booklet released

Kohima, March 24 (MExN): The Department of Soil & Water Conservation, Government of Nagaland celebrated World Meteorological Day under the theme ‘the future of weather, climate, and water across generations’ at Directorate Conference hall, Kohima on March 23.

In his address, SK Hekshe, Director of Soil and Water Conservation, highlighted the importance of Meteorological and Hydrological Services for the safety and well-being of society, stated a press release issued by Soil Survey & Land Use Planning Wing, Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima.

‘World Meteorological Day reminds us of changing climate and educates the public on the important happenings in meteorology, such as global warming and the increased frequency of natural disasters,’ he remarked. 

Hekshe forewarned that ‘weather, climate and water cycle will be different in coming years from the past.’ In view of these changes, he stated that the weather, climate and hydrological services will immensely help the people to tackle the associated challenges and seize the opportunity, which is in resonance with this year’s theme ‘the future of weather, climate and water across generations.’

In commemoration of the World Meteorological Day, the Director released a booklet entitled, ‘Meteorological report of Nagaland 2022’ published by the Soil Survey and Land Use Planning Wing (SSLUP) of the Department and while releasing the booklet, the Director appreciates and congratulates the whole team for their dedication and sincerity.

The programme was chaired by Rongsenlemzung, Joint Director and State Nodal Officer for Meteorology. In his remark, the chair stated that the ultimate goal of agriculture meteorology is to extend and fully deploy knowledge of atmospheric related processes to optimise agriculture production and hence increase profitability, decrease risk and feed an expanded global population.
