Dimapur, February 23 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party (RPP) team, which embarked on an arduous journey of circumnavigating whole Nagaland on foot on February 21, covered approximately around 40 kilometres on day 1.
The team, consisting of around 30 to 40 inclusive of walkers and support team, reached Mhainamtsi village under Peren district on the first day from Dimapur.
They were accorded a warm welcome by the Village Council chairman and his team upon arrival at the village jurisdiction, and also hosted the entire necessities such as food and overnight stay for the RPP team, a press release from the party stated.
The team also held a meeting with all the village, youth and women leaders and members of Mhainamtsi and New Jalukie areas where the RPP’s vision for the Naga people was discussed, it said.
Problems and grievances faced by the villages were also discussed at the meeting.
Meanwhile, on February 22, the RPP team left for Medziphema after breakfast and lunch were packed by the Chairman of Mhainamtsi village, the release said.
The team will hold for the night at Medziphema and leave for Zubza on the third day and is estimated to cross Kohima town on the fourth day, it informed.
Under the theme, ‘Walk To Save Nagaland,’ the RPP started its “herculean and historical walk across Nagaland” on Monday with the aimed of circumnavigating the whole State of Nagaland covering a distance of 1200kms on foot for a minimum period of 40 days.
